What metal for husband’s wedding band?
My husband has never worn a wedding ring and I’m going to surprise him with one for valentines day. There are so many metals out there for men’s rings I don’t know what to get. The eternity band he has bought me and that I’m going to wear on it’s own is white gold. He wants a white coloured band. I’ve heard of platinum, white gold, tungsten, palladium and titanium. Could someone please explain the differences? I already know about platinum and white gold but not the others. Thanks

Palladium is a variant of platinum. It’s in the same precious metals family as platinum so this means they share a lot of the same physical properties. Since it’s not as well known as platinum, it’s priced closer to white gold.
Tungsten has become very popular recently because it’s very scratch resistant and durable. Unlike white gold, tungsten does not bend and is very affordable.
titanium on the other hand is priced around the same as tungsten and looks and feels similar. The major difference is that titanium is very light. If you hold a titanium ring in your hand it’s like holding a paper clip. Unfortunately, titanium is not as scratch resistant as tungsten and is prone to scratching.
If you are looking for matching bands, I would stick with either white gold or palladium. If you are looking for something more affordable, I would go with tungsten.
